Gifts in a Will or Trust

You want to leave a gift to Catholic Charities in your will. You also want the flexibility to adjust your will in the event that your circumstances change. You can do both.

Beneficiary Designations

Designating Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud as a beneficiary on assets not included in your will can have a big  impact and may avoid unwanted taxes for your heirs. Some people prefer the increased flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using:

  • IRAs and retirement plans
  • Life insurance policies
  • Donor advised funds
  • Commercial annuities

It is very simple to name Catholic Charities as a beneficiary. Start by requesting a change-of-beneficiary form from your policy administrator or download the form from your provider's website. Make your desired changes and return the form to establish your gift.

Mark’s Story on Planned Giving

Some people are financially secure—they have a bed to sleep in and never go hungry. Others are far less fortunate. I have been among the fortunate, and like so many others, I have felt a deep desire to help those who are not as well off.

Catholic Charities of St. Cloud gives me that opportunity—and they do it right. They understand who needs help, what kind of help is necessary, and how to get it where it’s needed. Most importantly, they provide assistance to anyone—absolutely anyone—who needs it. Forgive me for falling back on my past in creating slogans, but Catholic Charities is truly a powerhouse of help.

Here’s another reason Catholic Charities speaks to me: when I donate to a national organization—many of which do vital, meaningful work—my contribution is just a drop in their bucket. But because Catholic Charities focuses exclusively on 16 counties in Central Minnesota, that same dollar has a direct impact. That means a great deal to me.

My approach to charitable giving is simple. I prioritize organizations that are local and serve the less fortunate—and that is precisely what Catholic Charities of St. Cloud is all about.”
