Youth Day Treatment Program

Our Youth Day Treatment Program provides intensive mental health services for children and adolescents ages 6-17 in a supportive, school-based treatment setting. Interns work alongside licensed clinicians and multidisciplinary teams while gaining hands-on experience helping youth build emotional, behavioral, and social skills.

Undergraduate Internship:
Undergraduate interns support licensed clinicians and graduate-level interns in delivering therapeutic programming for children and adolescents. This hands-on experience provides exposure to mental health services, group facilitation, client support, and clinical operations within a collaborative behavioral health setting.

What You’ll Learn:
1. Supporting youth during therapeutic and skills-based activities
2. Assisting with group therapy and social-emotional skill development
3. Helping plan and implement therapeutic programming
4.Clinical data collection, assessments, and case reviews
5. School-based behavioral health services and multidisciplinary care
6. Introduction to treatment planning and clinical documentation

Ideal for students pursuing psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or related fields.

Master’s-Level Internship:
Master’s-level interns receive advanced clinical training while serving as active members of the treatment team. Under supervision, interns gain direct experience providing individual, group, and family-centered mental health services for children and adolescents with a wide range of behavioral and emotional needs.

Communications & Public Relations

The Communications & Public Relations Intern is a member of the Organizational Advancement team, supporting Catholic Charities’ fundraising, marketing, communications, and community engagement efforts. This hands-on internship provides experience in content creation, public relations, event planning, marketing, and nonprofit communications while working alongside experienced professionals.

Interns assist with writing, designing, and distributing a variety of communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, marketing pieces, donor communications, social media content, and promotional materials. The role also includes supporting media relations efforts, organizing photography and visual assets, and helping develop marketing campaigns that promote programs, services, and special events.

Interns have the opportunity to interact with donors, volunteers, media representatives, community partners, and the public, developing strong professional communication and relationship-building skills. This position is ideal for motivated, creative self-starters who enjoy writing, storytelling, design, and community engagement.

Interns may also assist with major Catholic Charities events, including Mardi Gras and the Benefit Breakfast, gaining firsthand experience in event marketing, communications, and logistics. For the most comprehensive experience, availability through the Mardi Gras event season is encouraged.

Financial Assistance Intern

The Financial Assistance Internship provides students with valuable, hands-on experience serving individuals and families facing financial hardship and other immediate needs within the community. As part of Catholic Charities Emergency Services, interns work directly with clients while gaining practical experience in case support, resource navigation, food assistance, volunteer engagement, and nonprofit operations.

Interns assist with financial assistance services by helping clients identify their needs, explore available resources, and connect with community supports. They also gain experience documenting services, maintaining records, and contributing to program reporting. Throughout the internship, students develop a deeper understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable populations and the resources available to help them achieve stability.

This internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in social work, human services, psychology, sociology, counseling, or related fields who are passionate about serving their community and making a meaningful impact.

Human Resources Intern

The Human Resources Internship provides students with hands-on exposure to a wide range of HR functions within a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Designed to help students explore career interests and apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting, this internship offers meaningful experience in recruitment, employee engagement, benefits administration, training, compliance, and HR operations.

Interns work closely with the Human Resources team on both day-to-day responsibilities and special projects. Responsibilities may include supporting recruitment efforts, conducting stay and exit interviews, assisting with employee benefits administration, maintaining training records, supporting HR information systems, and contributing to employee wellness and recognition initiatives. Interns also gain experience with HR compliance, reporting, personnel records management, and general administrative functions.

Transitional Housing Internship

The Domus Transitional Housing Internship offers students a meaningful opportunity to support women and children who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Working alongside experienced Transitional Housing staff, interns gain hands-on experience in case management, housing services, and client advocacy while helping families build the skills and resources needed to achieve long-term stability and independence.

Interns work directly with program participants to support independent living goals, assist with monthly goal planning, and help connect families with community resources and support services. The internship also provides exposure to case management practices, client documentation, interagency collaboration, and the day-to-day operations of a transitional housing program.
