Gifts of Assets

Gifts of assets let you support neighbors across Central Minnesota with more than cash. Stock, retirement funds, grain, land, and other property can often be given in ways that benefit both you and the people we serve. Our giving team will walk you through every step.

Assets You Can Give

Stocks, Bonds & Mutual Funds

Give appreciated securities you have held for more than a year. You may avoid capital gains tax and deduct the full market value. See transfer information →

IRA Gifts (QCDs)

Age 70½ or older? Give directly from your IRA with a Qualified Charitable Distribution. The gift is not taxed as income and can count toward your required minimum distribution. Learn about QCDs →

Grain & Commodities

Farmers can give grain, livestock, or other commodities directly. When the gift is made before it is sold, you may avoid income and self-employment tax on its value. Please call us before delivery so the gift is set up correctly.

Real Estate & Land

A home, farmland, cabin, or commercial property can become a lasting gift. We review each property individually, so please contact us early to talk through the details.

Vehicles

Cars, trucks, boats, RVs, and farm equipment, running or not. We arrange pickup and send your tax receipt. Donate a vehicle →

Life Insurance & Retirement Plans

Name Catholic Charities as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, IRA, or 401(k). It is simple to set up and can be changed at any time. Explore legacy giving →

How a Gift of Assets Works

1. Contact Us First

Call (320) 650-1642 or email donate@ccstcloud.org before you transfer anything. We will confirm we can accept the gift and send the right instructions.

2. Talk With Your Advisor

Your financial, tax, or legal advisor can help you choose the asset and timing that make the most sense for your situation.

3. Make the Transfer

We work with you, your broker, or your grain elevator to complete the gift. You will receive a written acknowledgment for your tax records.
