At Catholic Charities, our mission includes building communities, promoting family life and enhancing human dignity. Nowhere is our mission more fulfilled than in our Adult Foster Care Residences.
We build the communities both inside and outside of each residence. We encourage our residents to get outside and to be as active in the community as their gifts and talents allow. We also encourage residents to form a community inside our residences. We do this by eating meals together, going on outings together and doing the best we can to create a family atmosphere.
Speaking of families, we try to maintain and build our residents’ relationships with their own families by welcoming family members to drop in, just as they would at any other relatives home. Our residents have even hosted holiday meals here, and welcome their roommates to join them.
Finally, we believe that each person served deserve the respect and dignity due every human being. We do our very best to meet each person served where they are, and encourage them to develop their skills and abilities, so they may live the best life possible.
Quite simply, our goal is to help our residents live the best, most independent lives they can. That means something different for each of them.
Catholic Charities residential programs operate on referrals from social service agencies, public and private, which must screen, approve, and recommend people to our care. Often these individuals are already receiving some kind of services but are in need of a higher level of care as their disabilities progress. We can also accommodate people on a private-pay basis. Most people will be eligible for MA services through various waivered programs through county and state agencies.
