Catholic Charities Emergency Financial Assistance Program

Catholic Charities Emergency Financial Assistance Program is designed to provide financial assistance to individuals in crisis.  Funding for this program is limited, the average amount is in the $15-$20 range per case. However, our staff can help you identify other community resources, if available.
The Emergency Financial Assistance Program serves primarily central Minnesota, especially those living in the Diocese of St. Cloud.
The assistance provided is most frequently for:
  • Gas vouchers
  • 10 ride Bus passes
  • Prescriptions and medical co-pays
  • Birth Certificates and State Identification fees
  • Apartment Application fees
If financial assistance is not available, our staff will attempt to suggest other community resources you may find helpful.
Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.  What you need to bring will vary based on your request.
·         We will request some form of identification which could include a driver’s license, state-issued ID card, social security card, medical insurance card or birth certificate.
·         If you are seeking a gas voucher, a valid driver’s license is required along with proof of insurance.
·         Those seeking funds for medications should know what the prescription is for, what pharmacy is filling the prescription as well as the cost for each prescription.
·         For other needs, please call ahead and ask what you might need based on your request.
Catholic Charities accepts donations of gas and bus cards, as well as financial donations to assist the Financial Assistance Program. View our donation pages for details.
Due to the extensive training needed to volunteer in the Financial Assistance Program, we typically only accept long-term volunteers. Most are student interns from one of the local colleges or universities.
