Catholic Charities SAIL (Support and Advocacy for Independent Living)

Catholic Charities Support and Advocacy for Independent Living Program (SAIL) helps youth, ages 16 to 21, learn and practice essential life skills. This unique program helps teens transition from adolescence to adulthood primarily through group training in a safe, confidential environment. 
Groups are led by Independent Living Skills Counselors who are dedicated to helping youth learn the skills they need to live successfully on their own.
SAIL Groups meet in the evenings to discuss topics such as:
·        Apartment living
·        Banking
·        Buying a car/insurance
·        Communication
·        Daily Living
·        Employment and career planning
·        Healthy decision-making
·        Home Life
·        Housing and Money Management
·        Legal rights and responsibilities
·        Nutrition/meal preparation
·        Parenting
·        Recreation and leisure
·        Respectful relationships
·        Self Care
·        Self-esteem
·        Social Relationships
·        Substance abuse
·        Time management
·        Values
·        Volunteering
·        Work Life
·        Work and Study Skills
 
Catholic Charities SAIL Program assists youth who have experienced an out-of-home placement or other family disruption to face the challenges of living independently.

Youth, age 16 to 21 years old, living in Anoka, Benton, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, or Wright counties may participate in the SAIL program.

Minnesota DHS Healthy Transitions Eligibility requirements must be met or program fees will be billed to the referring agency.  

Referrals are required. County social services or other referring social service agencies should complete our SAIL Admission Forms below.  Once all forms are complete, they may be faxed to 320-240-3358 (Attention SAIL) or emailed to akurowski@ccstcloud.org.  Please call 320-229-6038 with any questions on the referral or application process.

  • Casey Life Skills Assessment
  • Creating an Individual Living Plan
  • Individual Case Management on youth specific ILS goals up to 65 hours total
  • Individual assistance on applications for employment, schools, healthcare, etc...
  • Housing search assistance
  • Assistance with budgeting, employment skills, and career guidance
  • Financial assistance for housing & household items
