Back to School

Going back to school can be stressful. Catholic Charities seeks to help young people start their school year with the supplies they need to be successful.

Parents and guardians are asked to pre-register their children for the Back To School Program at Catholic Charities Emergency Services.

Donations of school supplies are appreciated and volunteers are welcome. 
If you are the parent or guardian who struggles to secure basic school supplies for your school aged child/children you may register for this program.
·         You must live in one of the following communities: St. Cloud, Sartell/St. Stephen, Sauk Rapids/Rice, St. Augusta, Waite Park or St. Joseph; child must attend school in one of these communities.
·         You must pre-register in person at Catholic Charities Emergency Services within our distribution period and during program hours.  **This program has concluded for 2016.
          Please sign up for only one school supply program for your child/children.

At pre-registration, you will schedule an appointment date and time to return and receive supplies for your child/children.  We ask that you honor this appointment time as up to 15 households are scheduled every 15 minutes on distribution days.
If this is this is your first time using Catholic Charities Emergency Services, we will request:
·         Identification for everyone in your household. This could include a driver’s license, state-issued ID card, medical insurance card or birth certificate.
·         Proof of address for each adult in your household. This could include a utility bill or a piece of mail addressed to you at your current address (not junk mail.) A driver’s license or other identification card may NOT be used as proof of your current address.
If you have used Catholic Charities Emergency Services in the last year and your file is up-to-date we will only request either a photo ID or a Catholic Charities ID card to pre-register.

Donations make this program possible. Approximately 2000 students are served by the Back To School program each year. In additional to funds, items needed include:
  • Backpacks
  • Dry erase markers
  • Notebooks
  • Filler paper
  • Plain folders
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Scissors, preferably Fiskars
  • Colored pencils
  • Washable markers
  • Elmer’s School Glue and glue sticks
  • Headphones for computer lab
  • Scientific calculators
  • Yellow highlighters
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Large erasers
  • Rulers
Items may be dropped off at Catholic Charities Emergency Services, 157 Roosevelt Road, St. Cloud to donation door D. Items are accepted from 8 A.M. – 4 P.M., Monday – Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
