Job Summary:Catholic Charities IOP/Day Treatment Program is a well-established children’s mental health program located in the community of Elk River, MN -- a satellite program to the larger Catholic Charities Residential & Day Programs located in St. Cloud, MN. We serve children ages 6-17 and their families, providing a range of intensive therapeutic services.  Eligible children are identified as meeting medical necessity for this level of care based on their mental health diagnoses and their level of impairment in home, school and community settings. 
Services provided include:  Group psychotherapy, individual psychotherapy, group skills training (social skills, coping skills, self-regulation, leisure, recreation/large motor), family psychotherapy, and case management and transition services.
Internship Summary:   Interns will work closely with the clinical team and graduate-level interns on a variety of tasks, including program coordination with the services listed above. Undergraduate interns will assist with supporting and supervising clients in the therapy program and providing general assistance to clinicians where needed. Undergraduate-level interns will be gain exposure in group work, de-escalation strategies, clinical documentation, case management and coordination of care functions.   Interns may be asked to contribute to planning/preparing for groups, including organizing curriculum, gathering materials, etc.  Interns are welcome to participate in weekly treatment planning and goal reviews. 
This site will provide interns with the following learning opportunity:
  • Exposure to structured mental health programming for elementary through high school ages.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of children with complex mental health needs.
  • Exposure to skills and therapeutic curriculum and activities.
  • Experience in a team-intensive setting committed to collaboration and consultation dedicated to providing the best possible care to children and families.
 
Duration:  Internship opportunities are available year-round. Internship length depends on college requirements.
Stipend:  There is no stipend available for this position.
Hours:Approx. 20 - 30 hours a week
Education:Pursuing a degree in a related area.
