Job Summary:The Foster Grandparent Program Intern works closely with the Foster Grandparent Program staff as support for the overall management of the program.  This person may be responsible for recruitment of new Foster Grandparent volunteers including displays, media articles, placing ads; conducting research in the sixteen county area to determine community needs and entering conclusions into database; maintaining Foster Grandparent records; assisting with planning & implementation of volunteer banquet; planning and executing an annual evaluation of one aspect of the program, and overall office management.

a.                   Assist in recruiting, interviewing, orientating, and placing Foster Grandparent candidates.
b.                  Assist with maintaining all Foster Grandparent records, including recruitment forms, timesheets, annual medical reviews, annual performance evaluations, and income evaluations.
c.                   Provide advocacy for Foster Grandparents
d.                  Maintain Program, Volunteer Station, and Foster Grandparent confidentiality.
a.                   Write and distribute news releases, Public Service Announcements, articles, etc.
b.                  Promote the Foster Grandparent Program for community awareness, speaking/display at community churches, senior centers creating public awareness.
c.                   Assist with the compilation, layout, writing, editing, and distribution of the Foster Grandparent Program newsletter “Generations Connecting”.
a.                   Research community needs in sixteen county area
b.                  Assist with grant research and writing
c.                   Assist in developing and implementing a research method to evaluate the Foster Grandparent Program to insure quality and to assess if goals and objectives have been achieved.
d.                  Present research findings in electronic, written, and oral form.
a.                   Assist with Foster Grandparent In-service trainings.
b.                  Assist in planning annual Foster Grandparent volunteer banquet.
c.                   Attend aging related workshops and seminars.
Attend Human Services networks, councils, etc.
Hours:Part time, 12-15 hours/week
Education:College student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a human service related field (Gerontology, Psychology, Social Work, etc.) OR business related field (Marketing, Non-Profit Management, etc.).
Experience:Entry level computer skills, Creative writing skills, Must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
